NBA Cup Semifinals: New York Knicks vs. TBD (If Necessary)
The NBA Cup brings an added knockout-stage edge to the basketball calendar, with every possession carrying extra weight. The event listing identifies a potential semifinal at Madison Square Garden on December 9, 2026, featuring the New York Knicks against an opponent yet to be determined. The date is listed as “if necessary,” so fans should confirm that the game is proceeding and check for opponent updates before making plans.
The Knicks are one of the NBA's established franchises, and their home games put New York fans close to the drama of live basketball. A Cup semifinal would bring the tournament format into the Garden's energetic game-night setting, with the crowd following every run, defensive stop, and late-game possession. The available lineup also names the Philadelphia 76ers; the final matchup remains subject to confirmation.
For visitors, the arena's location above Penn Station makes reaching the game by train or subway especially convenient. Midtown offers plenty of options for a meal before tipoff, including nearby food and dining spots around Pennsylvania Plaza and 8th Avenue. On ticketsuniondale.com, this New York Sports and Basketball listing is for Madison Square Garden on December 9, 2026. Prices currently start around $120, with major-event seats potentially reaching $500+; availability and pricing can change.
Venue and Seating Information
Madison Square Garden has a circular, multi-level bowl with Floor, 100 Level, 200 Level, and 300 Level seating. For basketball, the floor places fans closest to the court, while elevated levels offer progressively broader views of the action.
Center sideline seats in the 100 Level are a strong choice for a balanced view of the court and the game's detail. The 200 Level offers an elevated perspective that can make it easier to follow plays as they develop. The 300 Level is a more budget-conscious option, though its upper-corner seats are farther from the action.
Parking Information
On-site parking is very limited in Midtown, so visitors commonly use commercial garages or public transportation. Event-night traffic and demand can affect both availability and rates.
- Nearby commercial garages: Garages around Penn Station and 8th Avenue are typically a short walk from the arena; event parking is approximately $30–$80, with higher prices possible for major games.
- Garages toward Herald Square or Chelsea: A longer walk of about 10–15 minutes may offer rates around $20–$50, depending on demand.
Street parking is limited and subject to strict restrictions, making it an unreliable plan for game night. Booking a garage ahead of time or taking transit can help avoid last-minute searches and postgame congestion.
